Gordes is a hilltop village in theLuberon, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. It’s very popular, but if you stay overnight, you can enjoy it before and after the tourist crowds arrive. Plus, the colors of the stone at sunset are wonderful!
It’s one of the most popular places to stay in the Luberon!

Staying overnight in the village
This area includes businesses located in the village or in its immediate vicinity, just a few minutes’ walk from the narrow streets.

Benefits:
- Walking access to the village’s cobblestone streets and scenic viewpoints,
- Right next to restaurants and shops,
- The authentic atmosphere of dry-stone houses.
Disadvantages:
- Traffic and parking are more difficult during the high season,
- Generally higher prices,
- Large crowds of tourists during the day.
Sleep with a view of the village
These properties are located just a few minutes from downtown and offer unobstructed views of Gordes and the Luberon Valley.

Disadvantages:
- You’ll need a vehicle to explore the village and the surrounding area,
- Shops moving away from the city center,
- Some establishments close during the off-season.
Other useful tips to keep in mind
During peak season, book your lodging several months in advance, as availability in the village is limited. Parking in the narrow streets of the town center is limited: choose a hotel with private parking or use the public parking lots on the outskirts of town.
