Cradle of art and culture, the capital of the Côte d’Azur, and 5th largest city in France, has seen the birth and inspiration of great names: artists such as Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Yves Klein or Raoul Dufy. But also very beautiful pens like James Joyce or Guillaume Apollinaire. Between land, mountains and sea, the city of Nice makes you dream with its colors of Provence. Dynamic and cosmopolitan, Nice is also a candidate to become the European Capital of Culture 2028.

As well as being home to numerous museums, monuments and old buildings, Nice is also France’s 1st livable city with more than 200,000 inhabitants, elected for the 2nd consecutive time in 2022! Its pebbled coastline, its azure blue Baie des Anges, its fine and tasty gastronomy, its terroir and the hospitality of its population make it a delightful city to spend a (very) good vacation in!

When to book your hotel

Nice is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, but it’s not the only one! The city also hosts events, festivals and conferences throughout the year. We advise you to book your hotel as early as possible before your departure to benefit from the best price and above all to have a choice! Do not hesitate to check the available hotels for your dates.

Some additional tips

  • Parking: we advise you to keep in mind that free parking in the city center will not be easy. Most of the parking spaces and parking lots are not free.
  • Public transport: Nice’s urban area is served by 5 tramway lines and several bus routes. All information on the official website of the city.
  • Nice by bike: a really pleasant place to get around on two wheels, the city has laid out several cycle paths, including one along the Promenade des Anglais. Consider renting a bike if you are visiting the city! Information is available on the official website of the Tourist Office.
  • Weather: In spring and autumn, the climate is Mediterranean and therefore quite mild in Nice, and on the Côte d’Azur in general! Always bring a jacket or vest to walk around the city as it can be a bit windy at times and wet. Summer is of course the hottest season so it’s best to think about sunglasses, sunscreen and swimsuit! Finally, winter can be a little rainy but some days are sunny.

1. Hotel Anantara Plaza Nice (5 stars)

Why stay at the Anantara Plaza hotel in Nice?

Inaugurated in 1848, the Anantara Plaza Hotel is located in a magnificent Belle Époque building facing the Promenade du Paillon, the Jardin Albert 1er and close to the Place Masséna. This exceptional establishment in the city of Nice seduced us with the quality of its welcome, the attention to detail and the small attentions for us, customers. We were conquered by its restaurant and its terrace with an exceptional view on the sea. Ideally located in Nice, the hotel offers a wide range of facilities that enabled us to enjoy our stay in the best possible conditions. It is one of our favorites because we really enjoyed staying there!

2. Hôtel Le Negresco (5 stars)

Why stay at Le Negresco hotel in Nice?

A veritable institution in Nice, the Hotel Le Negresco is a mythical place where art is particularly honored, and we were delighted. Nearly 6,000 works of art are displayed throughout this sumptuous palace, dating from Louis XIII to the present day, for the pleasure of our eyes. A beautiful tribute to cultural and artistic heritage through this collection!

But Le Negresco is also the legend of the French Riviera, the French refinement with its 2 gastronomic tables, one of which is starred, La Rotonde and Le Chantecler, located within the hotel. One evening we enjoyed a very pleasant meal in 3 parts under the starry ceiling of the restaurant La Rotonde. In short, it was for us an enchanted and very poetic parenthesis which transported us out of time. A must-see place!

3. Hotel Le Riviera Collection Best Western

Why stay at the Le Riviera Collection hotel in Nice?

Nestled in the heart of Nice, Le Riviera Collection BW Signature Collection by Best Western is a charming, contemporary design hotel. After our stay in this 4 star hotel, we can say that it is a real haven for travelers looking for comfort and relaxation. And we found the service outstanding and the staff attentive.

Installed in this art deco building dating from the 1920s, the brightness of our hotel room invited us to relax. Minimalist and uncluttered decoration, Mediterranean colors, mainly white and Klein blue, geometrical shapes… This refined atmosphere reflects the art of living in the Côte d’Azur. An accommodation that we really liked!

4. Hotel La Villa Nice Promenade

Why stay at the hotel La Villa Nice Promenade?

Formerly owned by the Jacques Médecin family, French politicians and mayor of Nice in the 20th century, the hotel La Villa Nice Promenade is housed in a traditional 19th-century Nice building. Literally 2 steps from the Promenade des Anglais, we discovered this cocoon that tastefully blends the old and the contemporary, creating a cosy and distinguished atmosphere. We particularly appreciated the noble materials, the play of lights, the textures. Everything is carefully worked out to offer us a warm and welcoming atmosphere, whether in the common areas or in the rooms. As a bonus, we had a nice view of the beach from our balcony!

8. Hotel Sonder at Yelo

Why stay at the Sonder at Yelo hotel in Nice?

In the heart of the Jean Médecin district and just a stone’s throw from the Basilica of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, the hotel offered us a bubble of well-being and serenity! Its soothing decor, lush vegetation throughout the establishment, and organic design make it a particularly pleasant hotel to stay in! It’s also a state of the art facility. We noticed that the equipment in each space is connected to a tablet that allows you to control everything from room lighting to Chromecast streaming projection. This allowed us, among other things, to broadcast different programs (music, movies, series) on our TV set using our smartphones.

9. Aparthotel AMMI Vieux Nice

Why sleep in an AMMI Vieux Nice apartment?

Choosing an apartment in this residence facing the Promenade du Paillon, and 2 steps from the MAMAC Museum and the tramway, is choosing ease and tranquility when traveling. The apartment hotel is located in the heart of Old Nice, close to many shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. For us, it was an excellent starting point to organize our visits and explore the city on foot. Spacious, clean and well-equipped, our apartment had a complete and well thought-out kitchen, and a charming private balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. And there are even breakfast options! We had the pleasure of tasting ours at the Gaglio restaurant, a local artisan and partner of the residence. The only drawback is that the residence does not have access for disabled people.
