Is La Ciotat’s Grande Plage worth the effort?
The Grande Plage is well worth a visit if you’re passing through La Ciotat! We appreciated its fine sand, making it particularly pleasant to sit back and soak up the sun. Its central location provides easy access to nearby cafés, restaurants and shops, making it a convenient option for a full day at the seaside. You can swim in the shallow waters, ideal for families with children, or rent a pedalo or paddle for a little variety. While its success attracts crowds in high season, its friendly atmosphere and well-organized services make it a pleasant, accessible beach. It’s the perfect place for those looking for a mix of relaxation, comfort and waterside entertainment.

The beach floor is made of Claire-colored fine sand.
We loved dipping our toes in.

Swimming conditions and supervision
The slope is gentle, and the beach is supervised in high season. Ideal conditions for children.
Installations
Some sources indicate the presence of showers and toilets, but we didn’t see them.

Access by car and parking
Access by car is easy, but there is no dedicated parking. Parking is required along the avenue bordering the beach, so we recommend arriving early.

Public transport access
It’s the quickest and easiest way to get to La Ciotat’s Grande Plage! It is served by bus line 352 of the agglomeration’s transport network, at the Grande Plage stop.

Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beach.
Reduced mobility access
Apart from a gradual slope down into the sand, there are no facilities for people with reduced mobility.
But the Plage Lumière, located near the Grande Plage, has been awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label!

With children
The slope is gentle and ideal for a visit with children.

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
Eating out
There are a number of restaurants close to the beach, including La Paillote and La Farandole, both less than a 10-minute walk away.
