Visiting the famous Rock of Monaco? We recommend passing through Fort Antoine to reach Solarium Beach. This artificial dike will impress you with its large sports area and two levels. You can sit back and admire the Mediterranean from the second floor. The second is perfect for a swim in the open sea!
Here are our practical tips for planning your visit to Solarium Beach in Monaco.

This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is Solarium Beach worth it?
Yes, because you’ll only see this kind of artificial beach in Monaco! The seawall is very pleasant for sports enthusiasts, as it features a large area with weight training equipment. It overlooks Fort Antoine, offering a different view of the Rocher. The wooden upper floor with plenty of seating is ideal for relaxing in fine weather. The concrete lower level is perfect for good swimmers who want direct access to the open sea!
This is one of the attractions of Monaco’s Rocher district.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
There’s no sand on this artificial dike. The upper floor is made of wood, while the lower floor, i.e. the beach itself, is made of concrete.

Installations
We found showers and toilets on the upper floor of the beach.

Monitoring
Swimming is unsupervised. It is forbidden in rough seas.
Conditions for swimming
The slope is very steep on this beach, with concrete steps giving direct access to the sea. The water is therefore immediately very deep.

Solarium Beach in Monaco: access
Where is Solarium Beach?
- In the Rocher district of the Principality of Monaco.
- Access from the Palais Princier (top of the Rock): 20min walk.
- Access from Place du Casino (Monte-Carlo): 25min walk.
- Access from Port-Hercule (La Condamine): 10-15min walk.
Access by car and parking
The beach is located at the foot of the Rocher, close to two secure, covered parking lots. The first is Chemin des Pêcheurs, at the end of the tunnel of the same name. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the beach. For your own safety, use the footpaths around the tunnel. The second parking lot is at La Digue, just 150m from the beach.

Public transport access
For a bus journey, you have two options. Take lines 3, 4 and 6, get off at the “Princesse Stéphanie” stop, and walk to the beach (10min). Alternatively, take lines 1 and 2 and get off at “Monaco Ville – Le Rocher”. The path to the beach is longer and steeper (on the slopes of the Rocher), but it allows you to see some beautiful scenery and pass by Fort Antoine, which overlooks the seawall at Solarium Beach. To plan your itinerary, visit the official transport network website here.

Special features
Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beach.

Reduced mobility access
There are no facilities for disabled access.
With children
We do not recommend going to this beach with children. The stairway to the concrete beach is narrow and steep. Steps can be slippery. What’s more, you need to be a good swimmer to get in the water, as the depth is immediate. We’re entering the open sea!

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
Eating out
At the end of the breakwater, you’ll find a seasonal restaurant, Le Malizia Mar. There are also numerous restaurants on the Rocher and in the nearby La Condamine district. To find out more, read our article on the best restaurants in Monaco.
