Is the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo worth it? Our review
In our opinion, staying at this palace is well worth it if you’re looking for a luxurious, historic setting for your stay. The decor is chic and rococo. With its top-of-the-range amenities, you’ll be able to relax to the full. Exceptional both for its Belle Époque architecture and its facilities, we’ve ranked this hotel among the best in Monaco!

Decoration and atmosphere
We were stunned from the moment we entered the palace. Indeed, its Belle Époque façade is magnificent. Be sure to admire it from Avenue d’Ostende! You’ll be able to admire its superb decorative frieze, in harmony with the light pink hues of the building.

Once inside, you’ll enjoy a luxurious decor, whether in the main hall adorned with moldings, or in the corridors featuring wallpapers and carpets with floral motifs, sculptures, beautiful mosaics and antique furniture. Last but not least, don’t forget to admire the splendid Eiffel dome, which has earned the hotel the status of historic monument!

The room
Our room was decorated in rococo style, with motifs reminiscent of toile de Jouy, creating a chic, old-fashioned atmosphere. We particularly liked the blue spiral carpet on the floor, as well as the antique furniture and the two contemporary paintings on the walls.

In the room we found a bottle of water and two glasses of water, a box of macaroons, coffee and a coffeemaker, a minibar, a safe, an umbrella and hangers for our clothes. All these facilities contributed greatly to making our stay most enjoyable.

The bathroom
Our bathroom included a bathtub, Acqua di Parma cosmetics, 2 bathrobes and slippers. The toilets were separate and equipped with a bidet.

The breakfast
Breakfast at this hotel is available at an additional cost. You can enjoy it in the Limun tea room, or à la carte in your room. We appreciated the choice of products on offer, whether sweet (yoghurts, granola, crispy fruit and chocolate cereals, pancakes, toast, jam, honey, waffles) or savoury (eggs in all shapes and sizes, white ham, pork and poultry sausages, cheese, charcuterie, smoked salmon…). If, like us, you love squeezed fruit juices, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Equipment and common areas
There’s a heated indoor pool with a foot bath. Surrounded by deckchairs and picture windows, the pool is part of the Monte-Carlo thermal baths. You’ll also find a spa and a gym equipped with weights and cardio equipment, with the possibility of benefiting from the advice of a sports coach. If you’d like to relax by the sea, you’ll enjoy access to the private beach of another hotel, the Monte-Carlo Beach Club (open from April to October, free shuttle service).

The restoration
In this accommodation, you’ll find plenty to enjoy! First and foremost, it features an indoor tea room, the Limun Bar. We wanted to try all his pastries! If you’re more in the mood for a cocktail, head for the Crystal Bar! We found the setting of this bar very enchanting, with its magnificent terrace adorned with garlands of lights.

But the real highlight of this luxury hotel is its 1-star restaurant, Le Pavyllon, headed by chef Yannick Alléno. Set out on the panoramic terrace overlooking the Rocher, we sampled exquisite and highly creative dishes, such as turbot with spinach and nori seaweed.

History
The Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo in Monaco is a late 19th-century palace built by Monaco-born architect Nicolas Marquet. He was helped by Gustave Eiffel, who designed the superb dome of the Winter Garden. This dome, along with the Belle Époque reception room, has earned the building French Monument Historique status.
