We remind you that at any time of year, some beaches may be covered with seaweed (Posidonia meadows). This is essential for their renewal.
This can happen at any beach, but not at the same time. It’s random.

1. Pampelonne beach (Ramatuelle)

Why do we love it?
Located in the Ramatuelle nature reserve, Plage de Pampelonne is an iconic beach on the Côte d’Azur. Just a 10-minute drive from downtown Saint-Tropez, it rolls out its long carpet of sand over 4.5 kilometers.
Popularized by Brigitte Bardot, it attracts a host of stars every summer. It’s renowned for its festive atmosphere, crystal-clear waters and upscale seafront establishments.

2. Salins Beach

Why do we love it?
Plage des Salins is renowned for its unspoilt natural setting. It is surrounded by dunes and umbrella pines. We really liked its wilder side. Its fine golden sand and clear waters are ideal for swimming.
It offers a quieter atmosphere than the other beaches of Saint-Tropez. If you’re looking for peace and relaxation, we highly recommend a visit.
However, you will have to cross a section of algae to enter the water. It is regularly covered with Posidonia meadows.

Why do we love it?
Plage de l’Escalet seduced us with its natural beauty and discreet ambience. With its clear waters and fine sand, it’s the quintessential Mediterranean beach. It’s ideal for relaxing and basking in the sun!
It stands out from other beaches because it’s hidden away. Although still very popular with locals, it offers an intimate atmosphere. What’s more, the beautiful rocks lining the beach add an extra touch of charm. Grab a mask and snorkel to explore the seabed!

4. Tahiti beach (Ramatuelle)

Why do we love it?
Located to the north of Plage de Pampelonne, Plage de Tahiti won us over with its crystal-clear waters and warm sand. We loved walking on the pontoon facing the private beach of the Tahiti Beach Hotel. It plunges into the water, offering magnificent views of the sea and surrounding nature.
In addition to its glamorous ambience, this beach is surrounded by a natural Mediterranean setting, with umbrella pines and lush vegetation. If you’re looking for comfort, you’ll have a choice of several private establishments offering quality services. All you’ll want to do is lie back in a deckchair overlooking the bay!

5. Gigaro Beach (La Croix-Valmer)

Why do we love it?
Although Plage de Gigaro is a little further from downtown Saint-Tropez, it’s well worth a visit! We were charmed by this unique landscape, with the sea in the foreground and the Mediterranean coast in the background.
In our opinion, it’s a rather wild beach, but well equipped: toilets, showers, deckchair and parasol hire, restaurants. A supervised swimming area is strictly delimited.
We observed black rocks piercing the water. It’s an ideal place for snorkeling. Grab a mask and snorkel to explore these rock formations. However, we don’t recommend getting too close, as the current may be too strong.

6. Bouillabaisse beach

Why do we love it?
Looking for a pleasant beach close to downtown Saint-Tropez? Just walk along the seafront for 15 to 20 minutes to reach Plage de la Bouillabaisse.
It is home to several establishments overlooking the bay. We particularly liked the Pearl Beach Saint-Tropez restaurant, which we’ll be talking about in more detail in our section on the city’s best private beaches.
After a few steps in the water, you can contemplate the 360° view over the sea, the beach and the Massif des Maures. Water sports such as water skiing and parasailing are also available.

7. Plage des Canoubiers

Why do we love it?
Plage des Canoubiers is a small, charming stretch of sand close to downtown Saint-Tropez. It is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and picturesque setting.
Although quite narrow, it offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed this beach, which is less crowded and therefore quieter.
It’s the ideal place to relax and unwind. It’s a wilder beach, but still has toilets and showers. It is located next to the Saint-Tropez Yacht Club. Find out more here.

8. Graniers beach

Why do we love it?
Within walking distance of the center of Saint-Tropez, Plage des Graniers is surrounded by lush vegetation. During the summer season, it is home to the Restaurant Les Graniers, which enjoys an exceptional setting. Tempted by a quality meal overlooking the bay?
Slightly off-center, it’s a busy beach nestled in a green setting. With its golden sands and turquoise waters, it’s an inviting spot for a swim.

9. La Moutte beach

Why do we love it?
Difficult to access, Plage de la Moutte is well-preserved by the residents who live nearby. You’ll need to be determined to get there, and follow the signs for the footpath. The area is divided into private residences, but there is a passage for tourists.
Although the beach is hard to find, it’s well worth a visit. It is much less crowded and wilder than the other beaches of Saint-Tropez.
It is close to the magnificent Château de la Moutte and its large garden. Take advantage of this opportunity to visit it before your swim!

10. Small downtown beaches

Why do we love them?
On either side of Saint-Tropez town center, you’ll find a number of small beaches. We enjoyed Plage du Pilon, just a few minutes’ walk from the port. In addition to its superb rolling landscape, the water is a pleasure to enter. It’s the perfect place to soak up the sun while staying in the heart of the city!
Nestling in the heart of the town, you’ll also find Plage de la Ponche. This tiny sandy area offers a magnificent view over the bay. Access to this beach is exclusively on foot, from the port or the citadel.
During your visit to the seaside resort, you’ll see other smaller beaches. Be ready to put on your bathing suit at any time!
