Yes, you can see the locations of the TV series with your own eyes.
But, no, you won’t be able to see everything if you go to Saint-Tropez.
Here’s a clarification on where Emily in Paris episodes were shot in Saint-Tropez, some of which take place over 100km away!
But don’t limit yourself to these few landscapes, the Côte d’Azur is magnificent, rich in landscapes, charming towns and mussées: there’s plenty to see, including in Saint-Tropez.
This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
The Emily in Paris in Saint-Tropez episode: reality check
In season 2, episode 2, Emily heads down to the Côte d’Azur for a weekend.
According to the script, she goes to Saint-Tropez.
However, almost all the scenes you travel through in this episode were shot in the Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat areas. Only a few moments were filmed in the narrow streets and harbor of Saint-Tropez.
Here’s a map to put things in perspective:
In the center of the Côte d’Azur, you’ll find Saint-Tropez, and right next to Nice, you’ll find Villefranche-sur-Mer.
Between Saint-Tropez and Villefranche-sur-Mer, it’s a 2-hour drive when there’s traffic… So it’s not really the same place.
The train
The train Emily takes from Paris to Saint-Tropez is beautiful. but it has nothing to do with the train you’ll be taking.
Its train and cab resemble the Orient Express.
The train from Paris to the Côte d’Azur is a TGV, not a night train, and it looks like this:
It is also possible to travel from Paris to Nice by night train. The cabins then have bunks, but they are much less attractive.
See the available schedules and book your train tickets now.
Plus, in the episode, she gets off at a small train station. However, there’s no train station in Saint-Tropez, so you can’t get there directly by train. It’s actually the one in Villefranche-sur-Mer, 120km away…

The Corniche road
You then discover a beautiful corniche road with views of the Mediterranean Sea and a bay. This is the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, a 1h30 drive from Saint-Tropez.
This road is indeed very beautiful, but not at all in the same area.
Here’s our photo, taken a little further down the road to Villefranche-sur-Mer:
Between the scene in the car and that of the arrival at the hotel, we get a very, very quick view of Saint-Tropez, taken from the sky, even if it’s not in the same place at all. The town is easily recognized by its two-tone pink and yellow church tower. Here’s another view of this tower, taken from the citadel:
The funniest part is that she posts on social networks, “Do you know how to get to Saint-Tropez?” Obviously, the producers didn’t know!
I find the wink very funny. But only the locals, or those familiar with the area, were able to notice.
The hotel: Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat
Emily checks into a hotel that’s supposed to be in Saint-Tropez.
This town is full of magnificent luxury hotels, but the directors chose to make it a 1h30 drive from Saint-Tropez… It’s not very convenient for visiting!
The hotel is indeed magnificent, but it’s not in Saint-Tropez.
The Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a luxury establishment that can only be described as “mythical”. Built in the early 20th century, it has welcomed famous guests such as American actress Elisabeth Taylor and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Overlooking the sea, it stands at the tip of the peninsula. Its 2 restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Le Cap, offer a magnificent setting in the heart of lush gardens. The palace boasts an impressive range of facilities, services and activities (swimming pool, spa center, cooking classes, etc.).

The alleyways: it’s Saint-Tropez!
Then she finds herself in alleys that are supposed to be in Saint-Tropez. And they are! Yes!
It leads down the alley to the restaurant Le Péché Mignon.
And in the next scene, she arrives at the foot of the houses where there’s a small beach.
And the pretty alley with the house just above the tunnel is in the same place. This is Rue Sous la Glaye.
Paloma beach and bar
Emily then goes to a beach bar for work, even though she’s on vacation.
It’s a pretty beach with great views over the bay.
This beach is not on the Saint-Tropez side. We return to Cap Ferrat near Villefranche-sur-Mer, a 2-hour drive away.
This is Paloma beach.
The Jean Cocteau Chapel
Much later in the episode, Emily and Camille find themselves in a chapel with paintings.
This is Chapelle Saint-Pierre, also known as Chapelle Jean Cocteau. It is also in Villefranche-sur-Mer, on the seafront.
It’s a little gem, with paintings by artist Jean Cocteau that he imagined in 1956 and 1957. They depict the life of St Peter, the patron saint of fishermen, and local scenes.
Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Port Grimaud
Very briefly at the end of the chapel scene, you see a sky view of houses surrounded by water, a village full of canals and boats.
These are views of Port Grimaud, the Venice of the Côte d’Azur.
It’s one of the most beautiful villages to visit on the Côte d’Azur, even if it’s not as old as the others.
And it’s in the same bay as Saint-Tropez.
We don’t have a drone view, but here’s a photo we took from the top of the church tower:
A stroll along the harbour: in Saint-Tropez!
Towards the end of the episode, Emily strolls along a harbor with Camille and Mindy.
We see a restaurant with a red front and pretty, colorful buildings.
This is the port of Saint-Tropez, with the Senequier restaurant.
