The Roseraie Princesse Grace, located in the Fontvieille district, was created by Prince Rainier III as a tribute to his wife Grace Kelly. Inside, you’ll discover some 315 varieties of rose, over a surface area of more than 5,000m2. Most of these flowers are named after movie stars, sovereigns and other celebrities. You can also admire beautiful fountains and sculptures: ideal for relaxing!
Here are some useful tips for planning your visit to the Princess Grace Rose Garden in Monaco.

This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is a visit to the rose garden worth it?
Yes, the rose garden is well worth a visit. We were impressed by the variety of roses on display (315!). We were charmed by all the bright colors (different shades of pink, yellows, reds…). Numerous fountains add a refreshing touch to the walk. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city on one of the many benches in the rose garden. Don’t miss the adjacent garden with its duck pond, beautiful trees and sculptures.
In our opinion, this is one of the most beautiful gardens in Monaco and one of the best things to do in the Principality!

What you can see
A beautiful contemporary fountain

As we entered the rose garden, this beautiful contemporary fountain caught our eye. Very discreet, it blends in perfectly with the first bed of roses. We liked its geometric appearance and the slight sound of the flow.
Different rose beds

Around a central fountain, you’ll find various beds of roses, organized by theme (competition roses, roses in tribute to personalities, roses from the princely family…). Each rose is labelled and you can find them more easily with the help of the official website here.

Roses dedicated to celebrities

In the rose garden, the majority of roses are dedicated to celebrities. In addition to roses dedicated to members of the princely family, you’ll be able to admire varieties dedicated to French and international personalities. For example, we fell in love with this bright red rose called “Ingrid Bergman”, a reference to the famous American actress of the 1950s.
A sculpture in tribute to Princess Grace

Don’t miss this sculpture by Dutch artist Kees Verkade, entitled “La Princesse du Rocher”, created in 1983. We were moved by the elegance of this performance, created a year after the death of the American actress and princess. Its body, embedded in rocks, alludes to the Palais Princier, located on Monaco’s iconic Rocher.
A little waterfall!

We recommend a stroll through the garden adjacent to the rose garden. You’ll be sheltered by impressive trees and can take a walk over a large duck pond. This pond features a small waterfall with carp, which we found very pretty.
A duck pond and a Renoir sculpture

In this garden, you’ll see sculptures. This one left its mark on us. Entitled “La Grande Laveuse”, it was painted in 1917 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. In our opinion, it blends in very well with the environment, as this gull proves! You’ll also see plenty of ducks, making this an ideal family outing.
