Is Plage de l’Escalet worth it?
Certainly! Plage de l’Escalet seduced us with its natural beauty and discreet ambience. With its clear waters and fine sand, it’s the quintessential Mediterranean beach. It’s ideal for relaxing and basking in the sun!
It stands out from other beaches because it’s hidden away. Although still very popular with locals, it offers an intimate atmosphere. What’s more, the beautiful rocks lining the beach add an extra touch of charm. Grab a mask and snorkel to explore the seabed!

Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made of white and fine-colored sand. We loved putting our towel down to enjoy this beautiful little beach.
Swimming conditions and supervision
The slope to enter the water is quite steep and the beach is unsupervised. This beach is also a snorkeling spot, with small fish nestling in the rocks!
Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach.
Signs also indicated a diving club and a sports club.

- Less than a 15-minute drive from Plage de Pampelonne, one of the Côte d’Azur’s most emblematic beaches.

Access by car and parking
The beach is easily accessible by car. From St-Tropez, take the Route des Plages towards Ramatuelle. Once you’ve arrived on site, you’ll find a paying parking lot near the beach.

Access from the parking lot
Once you’ve parked your car, the beach is just a short distance away. There are numerous passages linking the road and the sand.
Public transport access
The beach is accessible by public transport.
From Saint-Tropez, take bus no. 875 from the Gare Routière de Saint-Tropez to the Escalet stop. Afterwards, you’ll need to walk about 10min to reach the beach. Click here for schedules and prices.

Dogs are allowed on the Plage de l’Escalet in Ramatuelle. Perfect for cooling off on hot days!
Reduced mobility access
We didn’t see any facilities for disabled access. What’s more, the beach can be accessed by stairs.
With children
The slope is quite steep, but the transparency of the water means it’s not too much of an obstacle. This beach seems ideal for a visit with children. They can play in the sand and on the rocks. However, there is little shade on the beach, so remember to take an umbrella.
Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
