Where to stay in Beaulieu-sur-Mer: best neighborhoods
Why stay in Beaulieu-sur-Mer?
In our opinion, staying in Beaulieu-sur-Mer is a great way to discover the eastern Côte d’Azur in a relaxing setting. You can relax on the beaches of Beaulieu-sur-Mer and neighboring Villefranche-sur-Mer. To stretch your legs, take a hike through the village of Èze or along the Cap Ferrat coastal path. And don’t forget that there are 2 great places to visit in the area: Villa Kerylos (inspired by ancient Greece) and Villa Ephrussi (an architectural gem with splendid gardens). And don’t forget that Beaulieu-sur-Mer is just 10 minutes from Nice and 25 minutes from Monaco by TER (regional express train)!
To help you plan your stay, read our article on what to do in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
Staying in downtown Beaulieu-sur-Mer
We’ve opted for a broad definition of Beaulieu town center, encompassing both the station and harbor areas. In fact, the center is somewhat spread out, with the town hall located on the edge of the harbor, while the station area contains most of the shops. It’s only a 10-minute walk between the two! This option is particularly suitable if you’re coming by train.
Benefits:
- Numerous shops and restaurants,
- Close to the train station,
- Wide choice of hotels.
Disadvantages:
- Parking difficulties,
- Potential noise.
Our favorite hotels:
- On the seafront and close to the port, we recommend La Réserve de Beaulieu, a 5-star hotel with a superb swimming pool and delicious restaurant – see photos and availability.
- In the 3-star range, we recommend Hôtel Frisia, with its pleasant terrace and swimming pool – see photos and availability.
- If you’re looking for excellent value for money, Hotel Select is the place for you! – see photos and availability.
Staying close to the beach
Beaulieu-sur-Mer’s main beach is Plage des Fourmis. It’s not far from the town center and train station (10min walk), but you can stay in hotels in the immediate vicinity of this fine gravel beach. It’s ideal if you want to be the first to settle in or enjoy the water activities!
Benefits:
- Very quick and easy access to the beach,
- Close to the Casino and several restaurants,
- 10-minute walk to town center,
- Closer to the neighboring towns of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
Disadvantages:
- Parking difficulties,
- Further from the port and village of Èze,
- Fewer shops and restaurants than downtown,
- Less choice of hotels.
Our favorite hotels:
- We recommend the Hotel Carlton, 350m from the beach, where we had an excellent stay – see photos and availability.
- For a luxurious stay, we recommend the Hôtel Royal Riviera, just a stone’s throw from the beach! – see photos and availability.
Staying in Villefranche-sur-Mer
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a neighboring commune to Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Only a 10-minute drive separates their respective city centers. We’d also like to introduce you to this town, as it’ll be more suitable for you if you’re looking for long, sandy beaches. Bordering Nice, it can be an excellent solution if you want to spend most of your time in the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes département.
Benefits:
- Charming old town,
- 2 large sandy beaches,
- Close to Nice.
Disadvantages:
- Due to its proximity to Nice, it can be very busy,
- Further from the village of Èze, Cap d’Ail and Monaco,
- More dense than Beaulieu-sur-Mer,
- Potential noise,
- Parking difficulties.
Our favorite hotel:
- We recommend the Welcome Hotel for its location and superb view of the harbour! – see photos and availability.
Staying in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a peninsula located between the communes of Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Villefranche-sur-Mer. This option is ideal if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation destination. A veritable jewel case of greenery, it offers beautiful beaches and seaside walks, such as the coastal path. This is also where you can visit the splendid Villa Ephrussi!
Benefits:
- Greenery,
- Calm,
- Beautiful beaches,
- Beautiful villas to visit (Ephrussi and Santo Sospir).
Disadvantages:
- Few shops and restaurants,
- Car essential,
- High cost,
- Small town center,
- Further from Nice and Èze.
Our favorite hotel:
- We recommend staying at the Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a legendary luxury hotel – see photos and availability.
