Is the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort worth it? Our review
We had an excellent stay here and fell under the spell of the lagoon, which gives the hotel its unique character. We enjoyed its lush setting, and were able to stroll around its garden to admire the lagoon and sea to the full. We particularly liked its contemporary, luxurious decor. This is a 4-star establishment, which in our opinion is on a 5-star level. This accommodation is one of our favorites in the Principality!
Decoration and atmosphere
The decor is chic and contemporary. As soon as we entered the building, we were impressed by its very spacious dimensions. A small lounge on the first floor, with its designer furniture and chic decor, sets the tone for the hushed atmosphere of this exceptional hotel.
Throughout the hotel, you’ll find works of art and designer furniture. In the common areas and upstairs, we were able to admire many sculptures and remarkable pieces, such as this curvaceous red sofa.
There was a multitude of contemporary artworks in the hotel, for sale. In the garden, sculptures took pride of place, including this work by Belgian artist Myriam De Kepper.
The room
Our room was designer and contemporary, very spacious. We particularly liked the terracotta color, which added warmth to the room. Featuring a built-in TV, as well as a large bay window opening onto the balcony, we really liked the layout.
The lounge area, with an armchair for reclining, was very comfortable. In the room we found a kettle, a coffee maker, coffee, tea, two glasses, an umbrella with the hotel’s name on it, an iron and ironing board, a safe, a wine glass, slippers and two bathrobes. We were delighted to see that a bottle of water and a square of chocolate had been left at our disposal.
The balcony was large and very well equipped. It featured a sofa with a table and ashtray, and an armchair with a bench for stretching out your legs. Beyond a pretty balustrade, we had an unobstructed view of the city.

The bathroom
Our bathroom was very spacious, modern, sober and functional. It featured a shower and bath, as well as a separate toilet. Water pressure quality was good.
We had hygiene products and cosmetics from Cinq mondes Paris at our disposal.
The breakfast
Breakfast is served in the Orange Verte restaurant from 7am to 10:30am. We were impressed by the wide choice of products on offer, both sweet (pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, porridge) and savoury (omelette, smoked salmon, cheeses, ham, mushrooms, charcuterie platter, parma ham, white ham).
Several formulas are available: à la carte, low-calorie breakfast, American breakfast or continental breakfast. In-room breakfasts are charged at an additional €20 per person.
Swimming pools
The resort is famous for its lagoon, a heated outdoor pool with a sandy bottom. It features waterfalls and bridges, some with overflows, and plenty of deckchairs for relaxing with your feet in the water! Open daily from 9am to 6pm from May to October.
The lagoon is set in a tropical garden with sumptuous palm trees and several Jacuzzis.
The hotel also features a heated indoor pool with Jacuzzis. Entirely surrounded by bay windows, it overlooks the lagoon. Open all year round from 8am to 7pm, and until 8pm in July.
Equipment and common areas
Other facilities include a large fitness room. It’s equipped with a dozen Technogym cardiotraining machines, treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, handcycles, rowing machines, Kinesis, and a weight-training platform. It is open daily from 7am to 9pm and is located on level -1.
In addition, there’s a 900-square-meter spa with massages, treatments, beauty salon, steam room and sauna.
The hotel also boasts a drugstore, a nightclub called Jimmy’z, meeting rooms and Les Étoiles, an entertainment venue. Guests can enjoy a wide range of activities: water sports, magic lessons, yoga classes, etc. Nearby are tennis courts, squash courts and a golf course.
The restoration
The Monte-Carlo Bay features several restaurants. First, there’s the Orange Verte, which offers bistronomic cuisine. Open daily from 8am to 11pm, the menu features seasonal starters, fine cuts of meat, fish and classics (tartars, burgers…) to be enjoyed on the terrace or in the conservatory. Right next door is the Blue Bay restaurant, a two-star gourmet restaurant run by chef Marcel Rravin. A fusion of Mediterranean and Caribbean cuisine is served. The seafront Blue Gin bar offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Open daily from 6.30pm to 1.30am, this is a festive bar with a heated terrace, sishas and a DJ. Enjoy signature cocktails and finger food.
Surrounding the lagoon is the Las Brisas restaurant, a summertime venue that frequently features live music and fish and salad dishes. The Hippocampe restaurant and lagoon bar is open from May to September, 9am to 6pm. As well as a wide choice of drinks, you can eat bowls and burgers.
Finally, the Calypso space is used for brunches. Just outside the entrance, pastries are for sale if you’re feeling a little hungry!
