Is Hôtel L’Eautel worth it? Our review
Yes! We were seduced by the balance between history, comfort and practicality. Our room was modern and well-equipped, and the breakfast was generous. We liked the rooftop, which is a real plus, whether you’re relaxing by the pool or enjoying the view after a day’s sightseeing. The bistronomic restaurant is decent, and it’s handy to be able to enjoy a good meal right in the hotel. For a stay in Toulon with your partner, family or friends, L’Eautel is a great choice.

Decoration and atmosphere
The room
Our room was comfortable, sober and neat, tastefully echoing the water theme so dear to the hotel. We appreciated the quality bedding, air conditioning, flat-screen TV and minibar with purified water.

The décor blends simplicity and elegance, with a palette of soft, nautical tones – blue, white and woody shades – that subtly evoke the nautical world. Clean lines, natural materials reminiscent of boat hulls and decks, and a few graphic touches inspired by the maritime world add character without ever weighing down the whole. The atmosphere remains soothing, coherent and perfectly in tune with Toulon’s port identity.

The view from our room overlooked the harbor, which added a certain charm when we woke up. We enjoyed watching the sun rise and set over the water, the mountains and the city come alive from our terrace.

The breakfast
We enjoyed the buffet breakfast. We found the offer well-balanced, with a variety of products to get the day off to a good start.

Sweet options include fruit, yoghurt, cereals, jams, spreads, pancakes, local honey, dried fruit, cakes and pastries. If you’re more of a savoury person in the morning, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for with scrambled eggs, sausages, cold cuts and smoked salmon.

We also appreciated the variety of breads on offer and the presence of plant-based milk. The room’s luminous ambience, thanks to its beautiful glass ceiling, adds an invigorating touch to this first meal of the day.

Equipment and common areas
The swimming pool
Hotel Eautel boasts a rooftop swimming pool – a rare feature for a downtown hotel! The pool and solarium offer panoramic views of the port, the old town and Mont Faron. We found it ideal for relaxing at any time, especially after a day of sightseeing.

The spa
In addition to the swimming pool, the hotel offers a wellness area with a treatment cabin for massages or body treatments, either solo or in duo. A real plus for relaxing, especially after a busy day.

The restoration
L’Eautel is home to the bistronomic restaurant L’Équerre, housed in a restored historic glass roof. We found this an elegant setting for a dinner party.

The menu features local and Mediterranean cuisine, in keeping with the spirit of the place, and we had a wonderful time dining there. The hotel also features a bar-lounge, perfect for a drink at the end of the day.

A little history
Hôtel l’Eautel is the result of the rehabilitation of three 17thᵉ century buildings, transformed to become a contemporary hotel while retaining their original architecture.

The theme of water (dear to Toulon) seemed to us to have guided the renovation and decoration, giving the establishment a strong, coherent identity.

We really liked the identically restored XIXᵉ century glass roof, attributed to the Eiffel workshops, which gives a singular charm to the room dedicated to breakfast and the restaurant.
