Are you looking for a beach away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Saint-Raphaël, with lifeguard surveillance and all the facilities you need for a great day out? Then the Plage du Dramont, also known as the Plage du Débarquement, is perfect! You’ll love its calm and natural beauty, even in the height of summer. It’s a perfect beach for families.
Here are our useful tips for planning your visit to Plage du Dramont in the French Riviera town of Saint-Raphaël.

This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is Dramont Beach worth it?
Of course you can! Plage du Dramont, also known as Plage du Débarquement, is the perfect place for nature and history lovers. We learned that it was on this beach that American soldiers landed on August 15, 1944 to liberate France! We really appreciated the breathtaking view over the hamlet of Dramont and the Île d’Or.
It’s also one of the city’s main attractions!

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made of fine ochre-colored sand, reminiscent of the Esterel hills.
A few pebbles mix with the sand at certain points on the beach, but that didn’t stop us from taking a rest. If you tend to be bothered by this type of flooring, you may want to consider wearing suitable footwear.

Swimming conditions and supervision
The beach is supervised in summer and has a gentle gradient. WCs and showers are available. Perfect for a family day out!

Special features
Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beach during surveillance hours. If you want to walk your dog on this beach in high season, you’ll need to come early in the morning or late in the day.

Reduced mobility access
There is a gently sloping access path to the beach. However, once down the path, there are no facilities to allow access to the beach and water for people with reduced mobility.

With children
The slope at the entrance to the water is gentle and ideal for a visit with children.
It was on this beach that the Provence landings took place. Take time to visit the memorial dedicated to the Allied soldiers who landed on August 15, 1944. We think it’s a great way to introduce youngsters to the history of the 2nd World War.

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
On the other hand, a naturist zone is located between the D-Day and Camp Long beaches. Find out more here.

There’s plenty to eat on and around the beach:
