Away from the large beaches in the center of La Ciotat, the Liouquet beach offers a more confidential atmosphere. Lined with rocks and small shady areas, it attracts those looking for a quiet spot away from the crowds. But with its restricted access, pebbles and rocky bottom, it’s not necessarily ideal for all bathers.
Here are some useful tips for planning your visit to La Ciotat’s Liouquet beach.

This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is Plage du Liouquet worth the effort?
Yes, it’s a beautiful beach and well worth a visit. Nestling on the border between La Ciotat and Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, the Plage du Liouquet has a wilder atmosphere than the larger city-center beaches. Between pebbles, coarse sand and small rock-lined coves, it attracts those looking for a more tranquil bathing spot, away from the hustle and bustle.
This is one of La Ciotat’s most beautiful beaches and one of its main attractions!

Beach type: sandy, supervised…
Sand or no sand?
The floor of Plage du Liouquet is made of large pebbles. You won’t find any sand. We recommend that you wear swimming shoes.
Swimming conditions and supervision
- The slope to enter the water is fairly gradual, but strewn with rocks. Vigilance is therefore the order of the day. A sign indicates that access to the right-hand part of the beach is forbidden, as there is a risk of falling rocks. Please respect this ban.
- The beach is unsupervised.
- ImportantPlease note that access to the right-hand part of the beach is forbidden due to a risk of landslide, and that it is mainly frequented by naturists. Only the area to the left of the stairs is authorized. This narrow section is pleasantly quiet, with a few shady spots.

Installations
There are no showers or toilets on the beach.
