Is the Hotel Colombus worth it? Our review
We are absolutely delighted with our stay at the Colombus Hotel. We found its value for money to be excellent for the Principality. Its chic, elegant decor was a real “coup de coeur”. The staff were pleasant and helpful. If you’re looking for affordable, well-equipped, comfortable accommodation in a quiet neighbourhood, the Columbus is for you!
Decoration and atmosphere
We were won over by the hotel’s decor! As soon as we entered, we admired a superb curved suspension system, which highlighted the space’s impressive ceiling height. With its undulating shapes and blue colors, this sculpture reminded us of a school of fish, evoking the nearby sea!
The reception area and bar were beautifully decorated, with sleek, comfortable armchairs, subdued lighting and superb walls with a 20s-style openwork metal structure that let the light through.
The walls of the common areas were adorned with contemporary art paintings and black-and-white photographs, which we really enjoyed.
The room
Our room was simple, elegant and contemporary. We particularly liked the black-and-white photographs depicting Monaco’s legendary activities, such as motor racing and sailing. The beautiful antique headboard and the soft colors of the furniture and walls created a calm atmosphere.
Two large oval mirrors added a touch of character to the room, particularly in the office area. The room was well equipped. We found: coffee maker, coffee mug, two glasses, sugar, bottle of water, minibar, safe, kettle, ironing board and iron.
The view from our room overlooked the residential complex, the sea and the pool.

The bathroom
In our bathroom, we had a bathtub with good quality pressure. Hygiene products from London cosmetics brand Elemis were on hand. The bathroom was functional and featured an elegant wooden cabinet.
It was equipped with tissues and a hairdryer, as well as a shower cap.
The breakfast
This hotel offers a varied buffet breakfast. We appreciated the choice of products on offer, both sweet (fruit, fruit salad, pastries, yoghurt) and savoury (cold meats, cheeses, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, red beans, breads).
Breakfast is served in the Tavolo restaurant, open Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 10.30am. It can also be enjoyed in your room, where we found the menu. Several formulas are available. The à la carte menu offers a choice of hot or cold drinks. Bigger appetites can opt for a continental breakfast (savoury and sweet) or an English breakfast (savoury only).
Equipment and common areas
The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool, which is open from April to October but closed on Thursday mornings for maintenance. It has a beautiful sea view. It is open from 8am to 8pm in summer and from 8am to 6pm in autumn.
This accommodation also features a gym equipped with Technogym equipment, as well as cardio and weight machines. Meeting space for up to 40 people is also available, as is a shuttle service to visit the city of Monaco.
The restoration
The hotel features a spacious, chic and elegant bar, offering a variety of contemporary cocktails. Open daily from 5pm to 11pm.
The establishment has its own restaurant, Restaurant Tavolo, serving committed Mediterranean cuisine. Local produce is available in salads, pastas and daily specials. It features a terrace and a chic, contemporary indoor dining room. It is open Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 14:30. A lobby menu is available between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., as well as a 24-hour room service menu.

How to get there
To get to the Colombus Hôtel from other parts of Monaco, we recommend taking the bus. Lines 4 and 6 are just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel (Roseraie stop). To plan your route and check traffic in real time, visit the official transport network website here. Choose to pay by contactless credit card or via the Monapass application. If you wish to pay in cash, the rate will be more expensive and you’ll need to top up!
You can also reach the hotel on foot, but you’ll need to be in good physical condition and have good walking shoes, as Monaco is built into the side of a cliff. Although there are public elevators to get from one road to another, they’re generally pretty slow, which is why we mostly took the stairs. To help you find your way around this densely populated city, we recommend downloading the city map here, which shows the location of escalators, public elevators and staircases.
Cab fares are fixed. Whatever your journey, it will cost you €18! For more information, visit the official Monaco cab website here.
