Is it difficult to park in Cannes?
Yes, and the difficulty varies according to the time of year. Parking in Cannes is an issue to be taken seriously long before you arrive: on-street spaces are scarce, restricted zones are numerous and demand explodes during major events. In peak summer season, during the Cannes Film Festival in May, or during congresses at the Palais des Festivals, finding a free space is a challenge. We were able to measure the pressure on parking during our visits to the city at various times. In addition, rotation in the red zone is strictly limited to 2 hours, with particularly assiduous control officers. So it’s best to head straight for one of the covered parking lots in the municipal network, which offer both security and peace of mind.

Parking in Cannes: summary
Careful street parking
On-street parking is charged from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm, and limited to a maximum of 2 hours in the red zone, i.e. in the hyper-center. Enforcement is rigorous, and any infringement is subject to a €35 post-parking charge (FPS). For a visit lasting a few hours or a whole day, the street option quickly proves to be restrictive and unprofitable. We strongly advise against this if your stay exceeds 1.5 hours.

Free parking
In downtown Cannes, free parking is almost non-existent. On the other hand, the Cannes Parking municipal network offers significant price advantages: 3 hours free on Saturdays, 3 hours free on Sundays, 2 hours free once a week on weekdays and 30 minutes free every day. Low-cost options are also available on the outskirts, with some park-and-ride facilities to the west. More details in the dedicated section below.

24-hour package: between €16 and €45

Essential tips
- In high season and during major events, arriving early (often before late morning) significantly increases your chances of finding a space in the most central parking lots.
- If you are staying in Cannes, ask your accommodation provider about the options available.
- During the Cannes Film Festival and major conventions, parking lots fill up early in the morning. Consider a park-and-ride facility on the outskirts of town and take the bus to the center.
- As in all tourist areas: do not leave any visible objects or luggage in the passenger compartment. Put all your belongings in the locked trunk before arriving at your destination

Accommodation with parking: our recommendations
If you want to simplify your stay, opting for accommodation with private parking is the most worry-free solution in Cannes.
Here are a few suggestions:

See photos, prices and availability – and book! - Hôtel de Provence – Provencal charm and lush vegetation in the city center abev parking
See photos, prices and availability – and book! - Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic – Cannes institution in a luxury setting with parking lot

Where to park to get closer to specific places in Cannes
Cannes concentrates most of its attractions around the seafront and historic center, but there are also a number of out-of-the-way sites. Here are our recommendations for your destination.
See our article on the best attractions in Cannes.
Where to park to visit the historic center: Rue d’Antibes and Promenade de la Croisette
To stroll along the Rue d’Antibes and reach the Promenade de la Croisette, Parking Palais des Festivals is the most convenient option. Its pedestrian exits lead directly onto the Croisette, with no stairs or slopes, making it particularly pleasant from the moment you leave the parking lot. We particularly appreciate this direct access to the lively heart of Cannes, just a few dozen meters from stores, terraces and the seafront. You can reach the Allées de la Liberté or the Vieux Port in less than 5 minutes on foot.

Where to park to visit the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès
The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is the emblematic landmark of Cannes, the scene of the famous annual film festival. To get as close as possible, there are two main options:
- Palais des Festivals parking lot – located directly beneath the building, with immediate access via the internal staircases or elevator.
- Parking Pantiero – a 2-minute walk along the Vieux Port, a useful alternative when the Palais des Festivals is full.

Where to park to visit the Îles de Lérins and the Plages du Midi?
To reach the Lérins Islands (Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat) or the Plages du Midi, Parking Laubeuf is the obvious choice. Located at the western end of the Old Port, along the Quai Max Laubeuf, it offers immediate access to the counters of the shipping companies with frequent departures throughout the day. Timetables vary according to airline, weather and destination.
We found it particularly convenient for organizing a day trip to the islands, without having to walk through the city center. The Midi public beach is just a few steps from the parking lot exit.

Where can I park for free in Cannes?
Free options in the strict sense are very limited at Cannes. However, the fare policy of the municipal network is particularly advantageous and deserves to be well understood, as it allows you to significantly reduce your bill. Here, we present you with the available alternatives, while being transparent about their respective constraints.
- The municipal “Cannes Parking” pricing policy: it’s not street parking, but the parking lots in the municipal network offer massive free parking: 3 hours free on Saturdays, 3 hours free on Sundays, 2 hours free once a week from Monday to Friday, and 30 minutes free every day. Night rates (7pm to 8am) are capped at a flat rate of €3 to €5.
- Boulevard du Midi Louise Moreau (Cannes-La-Bocca): as you move westward away from the center along the Midi beaches, some on-street parking remains free. (GPS approx.: 43.5455, 6.9850). From there, it’s a 20 to 40-minute walk to the Croisette, depending on your exact point of departure, or take the Palm Bus (lines 1 or 2).
- Parking Pierre de Coubertin (Cannes-La-Bocca) (GPS: 43.5491, 6.9632): 100% free surface parking near the stadium in La Bocca. Combined with the bus or train from Cannes-La-Bocca station, you can reach the city center in around 10 minutes. This option is particularly useful during major events when the central parking lots are fully booked.

Where to avoid parking in Cannes?
Parking regulations in Cannes are particularly strict. It’s best to be aware of the pitfalls before leaving the car anywhere, or risk financial penalties.
- The historic center of Suquet (pedestrian zone with bollards): the old town is protected by retractable bollards. Access by car is strictly forbidden without a resident’s badge. If you’re staying in this area, it’s essential to coordinate your arrival with your host to obtain temporary access, otherwise you’ll be blocked at the entrance.
- The surface Red Zone (hyper-center / Rue d’Antibes / Croisette): parking is limited to a maximum of 2 hours. Enforcement officers (FPS) rotate in a loop. The post-parking fee is €35. This is the least cost-effective and most stressful option for an all-day visit.
- Active delivery spaces: in Cannes, impounding is extremely rapid, especially on commercial routes such as Rue d’Antibes or Rue Meynadier. Even for a few minutes, it’s best to avoid these locations, or risk having your vehicle immobilized and incurring significant costs.

Frequently asked questions
Where to park without walking too far in Cannes?
For families with strollers, people with reduced mobility, or simply those who prefer to avoid steep inclines, the Palais des Festivals parking lot is the most suitable option. Its pedestrian exits lead directly onto the Promenade de la Croisette, with no stairs or climbs to negotiate. However, we would like to emphasize an important practical point: on-street parking is generally free for holders of a Carte Mobilité Inclusion (CMI) parking card, in accordance with current regulations, but this does not automatically apply in public parking lots closed by barriers, where normal tariffs remain in force.
Secure underground parking lots in Cannes
If you’re leaving your car for several days or traveling with luggage, two parking lots stand out for their high level of security. The Palais des Festivals and Suquet Forville parking lots are both enclosed, illuminated structures under 24-hour video surveillance. The former also benefits from the physical presence of reception staff.

Is there a 24-hour parking lot in Cannes?
Good news for travelers arriving at night or leaving early in the morning: several of Cannes’ parking lots operate continuously, 7 days a week (Palais des Festivals, Pantiero, Suquet Forville, Laubeuf, Ferrage, Lamy, Vauban, Gare de Cannes). The automatic pay stations accept cash and bank cards, as well as the Flowbird and PayByPhone mobile applications for on-street parking.

Where is the cheapest parking lot in Cannes?
For short stays, the municipal parking lots in the Cannes Parking network remain unbeatable thanks to free weekend hours. For long-term parking, the Parking Pierre de Coubertin in Cannes-La-Bocca is entirely free: combined with the bus network or the train, it allows you to reach the city center in ten minutes at the lowest possible cost.
Can I book a parking lot in Cannes in advance?
For a few hours only, municipal parking lots do not generally offer traditional online reservations. On the other hand, for major events or extended stays, platforms such as Interparking Cannes or Indigo Neo (for the Gray d’Albion private parking lot) allow you to book packages in advance via their websites.

How do I get to the Îles de Lérins from the parking lots?
Park at Parking Laubeuf. Shipping company counters (Horizon, Riviera Lines, etc.) are located directly on Quai Max Laubeuf, just off the pedestrian exit from the parking lot. In season, boats leave every hour for Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat, but this depends on the company and the weather. This is by far the most practical combination for a day trip.
