This <strong>corner of paradise<\/strong> in France, with its golden beaches, wild calanques, verdant vineyards, majestic mountains, picturesque villages and historic towns, is a treasure trove that never ceases to amaze.<br\/>In this article, we invite you on a visual journey through the <strong>most beautiful landscapes of the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur<\/strong>. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The most beautiful landscapes on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur: selection<\/h2>\n\n<p>The C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur has no officially defined boundaries. We choose the modern vision that stretches from Cassis to Menton.<br\/>We chose a variety of landscapes, the ones that thrilled us the most: beaches, vineyards, villages, towns&#8230; and a combination of everything!  <br\/>Our aim is to take you on an enchanting journey through this region, in the hope of awakening your dreams of exploration and marvellous discoveries.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Ponteil beach, Antibes<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Antibes\/n-mKVLR5\/Port-Ponteil\/i-38NGtcB\/0\/f2464217\/L\/plage_ponteil_vue-L.jpg\" alt=\"view of the Antibes fortress with the mountains behind\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Our favorite moment on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur. From Ponteil beach, the best of the region is superimposed: a beach, the sea, a fortified town and the mountains in the background. What&#8217;s more, our photo was taken at the end of March, when the peaks were still covered in snow. The ideal landscape for us!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. View from the Port-Pin calanque hike<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-kp6BG6n\/0\/38e8aa4a\/L\/Vue_rando_calanques_Cassis-L.jpg\" alt=\"View from the Port-Pin calanque hike\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Near Cassis, you arrive in the famous calanques of Provence.<br\/>We loved the hike between the Calanque de Port-Miou and the Calanque de Port-Pin, with breathtaking views over the bay of Cassis and the Soubeyrane cliffs.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. View of one of Porquerolles&#8217; bays<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-NCc5GSJ\/0\/d02c8fb9\/L\/porquerolles-vue-plage-Notre-dame-L.jpg\" alt=\"View of one of the bays of Porquerolles - turquoise water\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The island of Porquerolles is one of the jewels of the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur, with its breathtaking scenery of greenery, turquoise waters and rolling hills. Notre-Dame beach is the best-known and one of the most beautiful beaches on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur. We particularly liked the panoramic view of the bay from the viewpoint at the beginning of the beach.<br\/>No, we&#8217;re not on a tropical island!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. From the village of Eze<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Jardins\/i-P6L8db5\/0\/58a11b3a\/L\/Eze_jardin_exotique-L.jpg\" alt=\"view of the Exotique Eze garden\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The village of \u00c8ze is one of the most visited in the region<a href=\"https:\/\/provencelovers.fr\/en\/best-villages-cote-azur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(see our list<\/a>). And we immediately understood why. The pretty stone houses are set on a hillside facing the sea and overlooked by an exotic garden. Corniche Esterel: Jardin Louis Valtat<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-Ngjt8Cn\/0\/f0430d62\/L\/Esterel-calanque-antheor-L.jpg\" alt=\"Jardin Louis Valtat overlooking the Esterel mountains\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The Corniche de l&#8217;Esterel is one of the most beautiful roads on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur. These red rocks create a surprising contrast with the blue of the sea and sky.<br\/>Among our favorite stops along the way is the tiny Jardin Louis Valtat, with its view of the Anthero cove. We love the play of colors.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Cassis and its cliffs<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Plages\/i-QXPtvSD\/0\/886eddee\/L\/Cassis_plage_Corton-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"Corto Beach\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>In Cassis, our favorite beach isn&#8217;t one of the two in the town center. We fell in love with the Corton beach, with its cove and unobstructed view of the Soubeyranes cliffs rising to 394m above sea level between Cassis and La Ciotat.<br\/>We recommend a visit at the end of the day, so that the setting sun brings out the color of the rock.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. From Roquebrune castle<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Villages\/i-bFxkzwD\/0\/5aceae0b\/L\/Roquebrune_vue_sur_village-L.jpg\" alt=\"view of the village of Roquebrune\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Roquebrune is another of our favorite villages. From the top of the castle, which can be visited, you have a bird&#8217;s-eye view of the village&#8217;s rooftops and the sea. Typically Proven\u00e7al!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Pampelonne Beach<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Plages\/i-k4266BX\/0\/6b78db82\/L\/saint-tropez-plage-pampelonne-L.jpg\" alt=\"Pampelonne Beach\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a long, sandy beach surrounded by nature, without too many buildings, we recommend Pampelonne beach near Saint-Tropez. Village of Sainte-Agn\u00e8s<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Villages\/i-Dm6H9jx\/0\/43762c9f\/L\/Sainte_Agnes_village_Vue-L.jpg\" alt=\"Sainte-Agn&#xE8;s village and mountains\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The village of Saint-Agnes is a little less well known than others, but it&#8217;s the highest seaside village in France. Which means you really are between mountains and sea. The views are breathtaking!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. La Turbie Trophy Park<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-3SjrdJf\/0\/cc1a0625\/L\/La-turbie-vue-monaco-L.jpg\" alt=\"View of Monaco\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>If you like cityscapes without the noise and crowds, admire Monaco from the village of La Turbie and its archaeological site, Le Troph\u00e9e des Alpes.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. Chin<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-5NgCHW4\/0\/10084562\/L\/menton-plage-sablette-L.jpg\" alt=\"View of the historic heart of Menton with its colorful houses\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>In our opinion, of all the towns on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur, Menton has the prettiest historic center. We enjoyed admiring it from different vantage points, especially from the end of the Sablettes beach.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12. Sommet fort Porquerolles<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-C64jHp8\/0\/5f642fb8\/L\/porquerolles-vur-fort-L.jpg\" alt=\"View of the island of Porquerolles with its azure waters\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>We&#8217;re going back to the magnificent island of Porquerolles, because its landscapes deserve 2 photos in our best-of list. If you have the strength, we recommend climbing to the very top of the Fort Sainte-Agathe tower. You&#8217;ll enjoy an exceptional view of the island, its beaches and village.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. Port of Sanary-sur-mer<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-zCRqcfK\/0\/3515e057\/L\/Sanary-sur-mer-L.jpg\" alt=\"Port of Sanary-sur-mer with traditional boats\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>On the western side of the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur, there are several small ports. One of our favorites is Sanary-sur-mer. Here you&#8217;ll find the traditional colorful boats, which are very photogenic.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. Calanque de Figuerolles in La Ciotat<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-qs8mtvm\/0\/47ef62f2\/L\/la-ciotat-calanque-Figuerolles-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"calanque de Figuerolles\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>We were a little disappointed by our photo, which didn&#8217;t do justice to the beauty of this cove. Accessible in just a 20-minute walk from the port of La Ciotat, it offers beautiful colors and rock formations.<br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/provencelovers.fr\/en\/beach-calanque-figuerolles-la-ciotat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See our article dedicated to the Figuerolles cove<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">15. Fort de Br\u00e9gan\u00e7on beach<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-7kZnSLJ\/0\/ee38bdfc\/L\/plage-fort-bragancon-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"Fort de Bragan&#xE7;on Beach\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Even if you haven&#8217;t booked a visit to the fort (an official resort for France&#8217;s leaders), you can still go and explore the beaches opposite with beautiful views of the fort. We particularly liked an area where the rocks are very colorful.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">16. From the citadel of Saint-Tropez<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-XV5mzpL\/0\/07e8155c\/L\/saint-tropez-vue-citadelle-L.jpg\" alt=\"View of Saint Tropez\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re visiting Saint-Tropez, be sure to visit the citadel. Hiking in the Esterel<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-53dzDPR\/0\/4ef38681\/L\/Esterel-randonnee-L.jpg\" alt=\"Hiking in the Esterel\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Volcanic in nature, the Esterel massif is a nature break between the cities of the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur. It&#8217;s a great playground for hiking, biking and marveling at the color and shape of the rocks.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">18. Ruins of Ch\u00e2teau de Grimaud<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Villages\/i-48xGHsV\/0\/862a864e\/L\/Grimaud_Chateau_vue-L.jpg\" alt=\"Ruins of Grimaud castle\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Located in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the village of Grimaud is an enchanting destination that combines medieval charm, rich history and spectacular views.<br\/>It is dominated by the ruins of a castle, a symbol of the region&#8217;s power in ancient times. You can climb up to admire the views over the village rooftops, the hills and out to sea.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">19. Calanque Port Pin<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Plages\/i-tpnf2nG\/0\/413bd071\/L\/Cassis_calanques_port_pin-L.jpg\" alt=\"Calanque Port Pin\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Cassis is the limit of the definition of the modern C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur.<br\/>To the west of Cassis lies the Calanques National Park. The two closest to the town are Port-Miou and Port-Pin. It&#8217;s a bit of a hike, but the calanque of Port-Pin is superb, with turquoise water and magnificent trees.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">20. Petite-Afrique Beach<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Plages\/i-SSWn2Cw\/0\/afd2eb90\/L\/Beaulieu_plage_petite_afrique-L.jpg\" alt=\"Petite-Afrique Beach\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>One of our favorite beaches on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur isn&#8217;t your typical sandy beach. We had a great time at Beaulieu-sur-mer&#8217;s Petite-Afrique beach. Here, the cliffs rise straight up around the water and the scenery is impressive.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">21. Seaside vineyards<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-b2MvVs7\/0\/7bf26ef9\/L\/cote-azur-vignobles-L.jpg\" alt=\"Seaside vineyards on the C&#xF4;te d'Azur  \"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur is also known for its sun-drenched wines, particularly ros\u00e9s. These include AOP C\u00f4tes de Provence.  <br\/>Which means you can admire the beautiful vineyards with the sea in the background!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">22. Cap Camarat lighthouse<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-fz2XDS2\/0\/a86ccbb3\/L\/saint-tropez-vue-phare-cartarat-L.jpg\" alt=\"Cap Camarat lighthouse\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The Ramatuelle peninsula around Saint-Tropez is magnificent. We recommend exploring the roads at random junctions. A road may take you to the Cap Camarat lighthouse. From here, a short path takes you to a magnificent viewpoint above the long, sandy beach of Pampelonne. And in the distance, of course, you have the mountains.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">23. Ch\u00e2teau de la Napoule<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Jardins\/i-GTTPvbD\/0\/3b6629ac\/L\/Chateau_Napoule-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"Ch&#xE2;teau de la Napoule\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Unlike the Loire and Normandy, or the heart of Provence, the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur is not rich in castles. Here you&#8217;ll find more beautiful villas and the ruins of medieval castles. To the west of Cannes, you&#8217;ll find the Ch\u00e2teau de la Napoulone, whose red stones contrast well with the blue of the sea and sky.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">24. The ramparts at Antibes<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Antibes\/n-mKVLR5\/Promenade-de-lAmiral-de-Grasse\/i-qXBQnN4\/0\/7363bdc8\/L\/Antibes_le_nomade-L.jpg\" alt=\"Work Le Nomade on the ramparts of Antibes\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>We love walking on ramparts. The views from the walls are often breathtaking, and the sense of history is intense. A special highlight in Antibes is the modern, monumental statue called &#8220;Le Nomade&#8221;. Artist Jaume Pensa created it with a white steel letter lace. And when the clouds are perfectly positioned, as in our photo, what more could you ask for?<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">25. Calanques de Santa-Lucia<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Plages\/i-jXTh5PR\/0\/5a4dd21a\/L\/saint-raphael-calanque-Santa-Lucia-L.jpg\" alt=\"Calanques de Santa-Lucia\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>We return to the very red rocks of the Esterel. There are several coves where you can admire them up close.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">26. View from Cannes tower<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-rzXrzs3\/0\/33f7bf07\/L\/Cannes_vue_musee_Castre-L.jpg\" alt=\"View from the Cannes tower with the Esterel in the distance\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>In Cannes, don&#8217;t miss the Museum of Civilization and climb to the top of the tower to admire the 360\u00b0 views. To the west, you can see the Esterel massif across the bay.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">27. \u00cele Sainte-Catherine<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Best-of\/n-PbwqvZ\/Paysages\/i-KsxR2SQ\/0\/4aa68ae9\/L\/ile_sainte_marguerite-L.jpg\" alt=\"&#xCE;le Sainte-Catherine\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Still in Cannes, take the boat to Ile Marguerite. In just 15 minutes, you&#8217;ll arrive in a quieter area with few buildings.
