Is Plage Petite Afrique worth it?<\/h2>\n\n

Oh yes! Especially if, like us, you’re looking for a quiet, sheltered<\/strong> beach with a well-kept setting and a relatively family-friendly<\/strong> clientele. In summer, it can be very busy, but is less crowded than some of the better-known nearby beaches. We enjoyed the panorama<\/strong>, the lush vegetation in the background and the services<\/strong> available. Plage Petite Afrique is one of our must-see beaches in Beaulieu-sur-Mer<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Type of beach<\/h2>\n\n

Sand or no sand?<\/h3>\n\n

The beach is covered with fine gravel<\/strong> and coarse sand<\/strong>. It’s not the soft sand of Pampelonne, but we found it quite passable in bare feet. However, a beach mat or water shoes can make the experience more comfortable. In some areas, especially on the eastern side, we found more pebbles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Swimming conditions and supervision<\/h3>\n\n

Swimming is easy<\/strong> and entry into the water is gradual<\/strong>, thanks to the fairly flat bottom. We really appreciated thesouth-facing aspect<\/strong> of the beach. It’s well protected from the wind, which limits waves. During the season, lifeguards <\/strong>are on duty in a designated area.<\/p>\n\n

We found the water clean and clear<\/strong>. The area is well defined for bathers, but you must remain vigilant outside the supervised perimeter.<\/p>\n\n

Installations<\/h3>\n\n

Showers<\/strong> and public toilets<\/strong> are available on the beach. There’s a children’s playground<\/strong>, a beach volleyball<\/strong> court and a water sports centre<\/strong> offering paddle and kayak<\/strong>. We noticed that part of the beach was equipped with deckchairs<\/strong> and a beach restaurant<\/strong>. But there’s still plenty of space to put your towel down free of charge.<\/p>\n\n
