All we had to do was look up to marvel at the<strong>exceptional architecture<\/strong> of the villas above Baie des Fourmis and Petite Afrique beach.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We loved the Moorish charm of the <strong>Villa Andalousia<\/strong> and the opulence of the former <strong>H\u00f4tel Bristol<\/strong> building with its rotunda. Visiting it gave us an <strong>insight into the art and culture <\/strong>of<strong> Ancient Greece<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The view of the Mediterranean Sea from the villa&#8217;s windows is breathtaking, as is the magnificent garden which boasts all the essences of the Mediterranean. It&#8217;s also the biggest! Located just beyond the <strong>Marina<\/strong>, on the way to <strong>Monaco<\/strong>, it enjoys an exceptional setting <strong>between sea and mountains<\/strong>. Not to mention the magnificent <strong>umbrella pines<\/strong> and <strong>palm trees<\/strong>, typical of the Mediterranean coastline, which provide particularly pleasant shaded areas.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Petite Afrique beach is 400m of <strong>gravel<\/strong> and is extended by a <strong>second cove<\/strong>, slightly smaller than the first, but also quieter. You&#8217;ll also find a <strong>private area<\/strong> and a <strong>special children&#8217;s area<\/strong>, shaded by umbrella pines. An absolute dream. It comprises a beach of very fine gravel, the <strong>Plage des Fourmis<\/strong>, located just a few meters from the Casino gardens. The beach extends for 250m and offers private beaches with restaurants and mattress and parasol rental.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the bay, at the foot of Villa K\u00e9rylos, there&#8217;s also a <strong>picturesque<\/strong> and charming little <strong>port<\/strong>, which mainly welcomes local pleasure fishermen. Life there seems so sweet that we just wanted to sit on the stone wall above the beach for a whole day, looking out at the sea. This area is particularly popular with many species of cetacean. The marine area from Cap-Ferrat to Cap-d&#8217;Ail is also part of the <strong>Natura 2000<\/strong> network. The marine biodiversity thus preserved is exceptional.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were eager to admire the coastline from the deck of a silent sailboat, but also to discover the marine flora and fauna. And who knows, maybe you&#8217;ll come across one or more dolphins? The choice is yours: <strong>introductory freediving<\/strong>, scuba <strong>diving<\/strong> or <strong>snorkeling<\/strong> on the surface or underwater. Finally, we were fascinated by the villa&#8217;s history. The 8m-long boat will take you on a tour of the coastline and turquoise waters around Beaulieu and Cap-Ferrat. Its huge <strong>awning<\/strong> guarantees shade for most of the deck. It is now an exhibition space. It was built in the 11th century on the ruins of a <strong>pagan temple<\/strong>. It was the heart of religious life in Beaulieu-sur-Mer until the<strong>Church of the Sacred Heart<\/strong> was built next door in 1899.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indeed, in the 19th century, the population of Beaulieu-sur-Mer (known as the <strong>Berlugans<\/strong>) grew rapidly, and more and more <strong>tourists<\/strong> arrived, attracted by the relaxed lifestyle of the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur. The chapel was no longer large enough to accommodate so many worshippers. We admired the <strong>umbrella pines<\/strong> and <strong>palm trees<\/strong>, but it was the <strong>olive trees<\/strong> above all that enchanted us. They are magnificent with their grey foliage and gnarled trunks. The <strong>Jardin de l&#8217;Olivaie<\/strong> covers 6,000m2.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until the end of the 19th century, Beaulieu was a <strong>vast olive grove<\/strong> stretching right down to the sea. Gradually, the olive groves became large estates with opulent villas. Fortunately, the town has managed to preserve this area of <strong>100 hundred-year-old olive trees<\/strong>, just a stone&#8217;s throw from the sea.
