Contemplate the panorama of the Ramatuelle nature reserve<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Saint-Tropez\/n-qRB2K2\/Ramatuelle\/i-LNxLPCN\/0\/bPgRXLdRkfLTH7XX9KZHrhQXxKRxGnLhtVztr8xT\/L\/vue%20village%20ramatuelle-L.jpg\" alt=\"ramatuelle view\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the village, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the Ramatuelle nature reserve. On the horizon, you can even make out the bright azure Mediterranean Sea. We were amazed by the show!  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take a look at the observation table to find your bearings on the Saint-Tropez peninsula. The Bay of Pampelonne and the Cap Camarat lighthouse are particularly well worth a visit. Ramatuelle is renowned for its picturesque narrow streets and traditional stone houses.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During your stroll, don&#8217;t miss the Eiffel staircase on Place Gabriel P\u00e9ri, the 15th-century shopkeepers&#8217; stall and the town&#8217;s oldest association, Le Cercle du Littoral.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Saint-Tropez\/n-qRB2K2\/Ramatuelle\/i-wbjn4Mj\/0\/ggrHjGkWH8StzHCCQp6QmBhtZqzCQnGGVknm4ZgP\/L\/village%20ramatuelle-2-L.jpg\" alt=\"facades ramatuelle houses\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We loved the shady squares lined with plants, and discovering the charming signs at the bend in the narrow streets. In places, the vegetation nibbled away at the facades of the houses. Admire Notre-Dame Church<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Saint-Tropez\/n-qRB2K2\/Ramatuelle\/i-99HjrSk\/0\/CNS8X7nGRXSZtn5fNv5GG2Xf9cW486Bs7XRvcLHRm\/L\/eglise%20notre%20dame%20village%20ramatuelle-L.jpg\" alt=\"&#xE9;glise notre dame ramatuelle\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Built in the late 16th century to replace the medieval edifice known as Notre-Dame du Pin, Ramatuelle&#8217;s church backs onto the ancient ramparts surrounding the village. Its bell tower is the remnant of a 14th-century watchtower.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The impressive wooden entrance door, adorned with a rich serpentine portal (green porphyry blocks extracted from a quarry in Cavalaire&#8217;s Quartier de la Carrade) really piqued our curiosity. It was an invitation to come in!<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Saint-Tropez\/n-qRB2K2\/Ramatuelle\/i-QsGzqzX\/0\/C7Csc988JbLDNbBHztQ6f8NcD6ss5v9M3rW3JQPSh\/L\/interieur%20eglise%20notre%20dame%20village%20ramatuelle-L.jpg\" alt=\"ramatuelle church\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once inside, we observed:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the 3 santons featuring Saint Joseph, the Blessed Virgin (both listed as historic monuments) and a baby Jesus donated by actor Jean-Claude Brialy,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliquary busts of Saint-Andr\u00e9 (patron saint of the parish), Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the choir and its majestic 17th-century altarpiece,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the colorful decoration painted on the vault,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a commemorative plaque in honor of the crews of 4 submarines that disappeared off Cap Camarat between 1946 and 1970.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Practical information<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Opening hours are not clearly indicated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admission is free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More information on the Tourist Office website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramatuelle-tourisme.com\/fr\/decouvrir-la-presquile\/cote-village\/les-monuments\/leglise-notre-dame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Cross the vaulted passage of the Porte Sarrasine<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Provence-Lovers\/Saint-Tropez\/n-qRB2K2\/Ramatuelle\/i-xznjFZw\/0\/CzBtgB4kZg2Tb3mRQS4h2Vvqdp9gS9scXdsVGNsCb\/L\/village-Ramatuelle-L.jpg\" alt=\"porte sarrasine ramatuelle\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During your visit to the village, you&#8217;ll have to pass through the Saracen Gate. It is very well preserved. In just a few steps, we stepped back in time to immerse ourselves in a medieval atmosphere. This is the best way to enter or leave the old town of Ramatuelle in our opinion! On the other side, the view of the nature reserve beckoned.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take the time to look at the door, and you&#8217;ll certainly be able to make out the portcullis slide and the hinges added in 1792. From the outside, 2 stone arms, once used to support a watchtower, are still visible. If you&#8217;re a gourmet (like us), take the opportunity to try one of the village&#8217;s fine restaurants, or simply enjoy a drink on the terrace!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Storefronts varied in color and shape. Nestled in the hills overlooking the famous Baie de Pampelonne and its dreamy beach, Ramatuelle is a picturesque little Provencal village. We loved strolling along its cobbled streets, looking at its stone houses.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although it offers fewer opportunities for exploration than other villages, it boasts breathtaking views of the nature reserve and the sea on the horizon.
